Pasabag Fairy Chimneys

Pasabag Fairy Chimneys

Pasabag Valley is home to some of the most iconic fairy chimneys in Cappadocia, offering one of the rarest examples of a striking monochrome landscape in the world. This valley’s breathtaking scenery has gained international fame, frequently featured in Turkey’s tourism campaigns.

Formerly called "The Monks Valley," the Pasabag Fairy Chimney Valley lies along the right side of the Goreme-Avanos main road. Its remarkable array of unusual fairy chimney formations is truly impressive. Several of the multi-stemmed and multi-capped structures were adapted by monks for creating chapels and resting spots during their time living there.

Pasabag Fairy Chimneys

One of the three-headed fairy chimneys houses a chapel and a hermitage dedicated to Saint Simeon. Entry to this stylite is through a narrow chimney-like opening, decorated with crucifixes. Inside, the fairy chimney also contains ovens, seating areas, sleeping quarters, and windows that allow natural daylight to enter.

The Pasabag Fairy Chimneys are located between the towns of Cavusin and Avanos. A local bus service runs hourly from Goreme to the junction. From there, it is a 10-minute walk to the fairy chimneys, where an entrance fee of 12 Euros per person in 2025 is required. This ticket also grants access to the Zelve Open Air Museum. It is advisable to visit early in the day since the rock formations catch the afternoon sunlight, which can make photography difficult. The ideal time to visit is at sunset. For those driving, the GPS coordinates are 38°40'40.9″N 34°51'18.3″E.

We offer a Small Group Highlights of Cappadocia tour priced at 100 Euros per person, which includes a licensed English-speaking guide, entrance fees, transportation, and lunch. Additionally, we provide a Private Cappadocia Delight Tour that also visits the Pasabag Fairy Chimneys.
