Private Tour
The tours we offer are designed for those who prefer a relaxed pace, comprehensive insights from knowledgeable guides, local meals in small boutique restaurants (we avoid large bus group venues with open-buffet lunches), and a small group experience. If you prefer tours that visit many sites quickly, these may not align with your expectations.
The Priene - Miletus - Didyma tour will begin at 09:30 with a pick-up from your hotel in Kusadasi and Selcuk. Our first destination is Priene, renowned as the earliest city designed with a grid system, situated on a hillside. You will explore the Theater, Temple of Athena, Bouleuterion, Agora, and the Altar of Zeus and Cybele.
Immediately following our visit to Priene, we will continue to Miletus, known as the birthplace of Thales and a leading city of Ionia. In Miletus, we will explore the Delphinium, the Nymphanion, the Theater, and the Faustina Baths. As one of the 12 Ionian Cities of Asia Minor, Miletus held a significant place in western Anatolia’s history. It was also home to many renowned philosophers and scientists including Thales, Anaximander, Anaximenes, Hippodamus, and Hecataeus.
After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we will head to Didyma to visit the impressive Temple of Apollo, famous for its massive columns. The Temple of Apollo at Didyma, also called Didymaion, ranked as the fourth largest temple in the ancient Greek world. Its oracle, considered second only to Delphi’s, played a crucial role in the religious and political affairs of Miletus and the wider Mediterranean region. Prominent figures such as Alexander the Great (356-323 BCE) and Diocletian (244-313 CE) sought counsel from this oracle. Didyma will be our final destination before we return to your hotel.
