Private Tour
The tours we offer are designed for those who prefer a relaxed pace, comprehensive insights from knowledgeable guides, local meals in small boutique restaurants (we avoid large bus group venues with open-buffet lunches), and a small group experience. If you prefer tours that visit many sites quickly, these may not align with your expectations.
Day 1 (Flight to Gaziantep, visit the city, lunch and dinner included)
Starting with an early pick-up from your hotel in Istanbul, we will transfer you to Istanbul Airport for your flight to Gaziantep Airport. Upon arrival, our guide and driver will be waiting to greet you at the exit gate holding a sign with your name for a smooth connection to the next part of your trip.
After a brief drive, we will visit the world-renowned Zeugma Mosaic Museum. This museum in Gaziantep features the finest preserved mosaics in Turkey, originating from the ancient city of Zeugma. Zeugma has been included in the UNESCO Tentative List since 2021. The mosaics, dating back 2000 years, are extraordinary in their design, color, and craftsmanship. Alongside the 1450 m² of mosaics, the museum also exhibits 140 m² of frescoes, 4 Roman fountains, 20 columns, 4 limestone sculptures, a bronze statue of Mars, grave steles, and sarcophagi. Following the visit, we will enjoy lunch at the famous 'Kebapçı Halil Usta Restaurant.' Gaziantep is celebrated for its rich culinary heritage, especially its kebabs, and this establishment has been honored repeatedly as Turkey’s top kebab restaurant.
Post lunch, we will take a two-hour drive to Harran, an ancient settlement where it is believed Prophet Abraham once resided. Though located in a dry and arid plain, Harran has flourished for over 5,000 years. As a key commercial center linking Anatolia and Mesopotamia, Harran developed a rich and enduring culture. The city is famed for its unique adobe beehive houses, its castle, and the ruins of an 8th-century university. Harran has been listed on the UNESCO Tentative List since 2000. After exploring Harran, we will drive approximately 45 minutes to Sanliurfa city center and check into our hotel. After some rest, we will go out for dinner at one of Sanliurfa’s finest dining spots, Culcuoglu Restaurant, famous for its kebabs and baklava. Following dinner, we will return to the hotel for overnight accommodation in Sanliurfa.
Day 2 ( Visit Gobeklitepe & Karahantepe, sunset in Mt. Nemrut, breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will take a leisurely walk through the heart of Sanliurfa. This city holds a profound historical legacy, as it is believed that Old Testament prophets such as Jethro, Job, Elijah, and Abraham once lived here. Moreover, the area served as a temporary residence for Prophet Moses, who tended sheep here for seven years before his return to Egypt. Because of these significant connections, the city is often called 'The City of Prophets.' During our visit, we will explore the Pool of Prophet Abraham, where the legend tells that Abraham, refusing to worship Nimrod’s gods, was thrown into a blazing fire but emerged unharmed by divine intervention. Miraculously, the flames turned into water and the burning wood transformed into the carps now living in the pool. Our walk will also reveal the city’s unique charm, reflected in its vibrant blend of various cultures and ethnic communities.
Next, we will embark on a 30-minute drive to visit one of Turkey’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Göbekli Tepe. Recognized as the oldest known monumental architectural site, Göbekli Tepe has been scientifically confirmed as the world’s earliest temple, dating back 11,500 years. The site features numerous limestone pillars, many adorned with stylized T-shaped carvings, which archaeoastronomers believe may have served an astronomical alignment function.
Our journey will then continue to the recently uncovered and still partly unearthed site of Karahantepe. This important Pre-Pottery Neolithic site is located in the Taş Tepeler region of Southeast Turkey, within Şanlıurfa province. "Taş Tepeler" means "stone hills," a fitting description of an area rich in archaeological sites known for their distinctive T-shaped anthropomorphic pillars similar to those at Göbekli Tepe. What makes Karahantepe particularly fascinating is its shared cultural background with Göbekli Tepe, yet it displays notable differences. While Göbekli Tepe’s imagery is more formal, realistic, and finely detailed, the carvings at Karahantepe are less polished but convey a more dynamic and ritualistic expression.
Following this extraordinary visit, we will take a drive of about 1 hour to reach Cevahirhan Restaurant. This historic caravanserai, over 700 years old, has been carefully restored and is celebrated as the best dining establishment in Şanlıurfa. After savoring a delicious lunch there, our journey continues with a 1.5-hour transfer to our hotel in Adıyaman. Upon arrival, after checking in and resting for approximately an hour, we will set out on a 2-hour drive to the peak of Mount Nemrut. The Mount Nemrut site has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Once we reach the national park entrance, we will embark on a 20-minute hike to the summit. There, we will witness one of the most spectacular sunsets worldwide alongside the ancient statues of gods and kings. After this unforgettable experience, we will descend to Kahta for dinner at a charming local restaurant. Following dinner, we will complete a final 45-minute drive back to our hotel for an overnight stay in Adıyaman.
Day 3 (Flight back to Istanbul, breakfast included)
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to Adıyaman Airport for your return flight to Istanbul. Upon landing, our driver will be waiting to welcome you at the airport and will provide transportation to your hotel in Istanbul.
