Private Perge Aspendos Side Tour with lunch

We will leave your hotel at approximately 09:00 AM to begin our journey with a visit to the Ancient City of Perge. This historic site offers a vivid glimpse into the appearance of a Greek and Roman city, dating back to the 4th century BC. It was inhabited by Greek settlers after the Trojan War, visited by St. Paul and his companions when it was a major city in Pamphylia, ruled by Alexander the Great, and later governed by the Byzantines. Perge has long been a significant destination for Christian travelers, as St. Paul preached his first sermon here in 46 AD after arriving from Antioch.

During our visit, we will explore The Roman Baths, the Agora, the Colonnaded Street, the Nympharium, and the stadium. The archaeological site of Perge, which was placed on the UNESCO Tentative List in 2009, stands as one of Turkey’s remarkable cultural treasures.

Our next destination will be the Aspendos Theatre, known as one of the best-preserved Roman theatres. Dating back to the 2nd century AD, this ancient theatre can accommodate up to 15,000 spectators and continues to host festivals and concerts today. The Theatre and Aqueducts of Aspendos were added to the UNESCO Tentative List in 2015.

After lunch, we will visit the Ancient City of Side, which was the largest port in ancient Pamphylia. St. Paul is believed to have entered this ancient harbor on his way to Perge, coming from Cyprus. Side is one of Turkey’s most notable archaeological sites and once served as a prominent slave market. During Roman rule, the city saw significant development including a vast theatre and Roman Baths. The impressive Temple of Apollo was also constructed during this period.

To conclude the day, we will visit Kursunlu Waterfalls for a relaxing break after a warm day in Antalya. Afterwards, we will drive you back to your hotel at around 5:00 PM.
