Private Tour
The tours we offer are designed for those who prefer a relaxed pace, comprehensive insights from knowledgeable guides, local meals in small boutique restaurants (we avoid large bus group venues with open-buffet lunches), and a small group experience. If you prefer tours that visit many sites quickly, these may not align with your expectations.
The historic city of Ephesus, nestled close to the Aegean Sea, was once among the largest and most influential Greek cities in Anatolia. It was the proud site of the Temple of Artemis, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The remnants of Ephesus remain a major attraction for travelers and are considered a holy place in Christianity because of their association with important biblical figures such as St. Paul, St. John the Evangelist, and the Virgin Mary. Ephesus is also acknowledged as one of the Seven Churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation. During the Roman era, its population exceeded 250,000 residents in the 1st century BC, making it one of the largest metropolises in the ancient Mediterranean region.
Ephesus has always held a position of great importance. In different eras, it served as a major commercial hub in antiquity, a vital spiritual center in early Christian history, and today, it stands as a renowned destination for global tourism, attracting visitors from all corners of the world.
We will begin the day by picking you up from your hotel in Selcuk or Kusadasi around 09:00am. Our first destination is the House of the Virgin Mary, a sacred Christian site. This revered place was identified thanks to the visions of Sister Anne Catherine Emmerich, a German nun, in 1812. Through her spiritual experiences, she saw St. John bringing the Virgin Mary from Jerusalem to Ephesus and described a rectangular stone house that he built for her. Her detailed descriptions later led to the discovery of this peaceful sanctuary.
Following this spiritual visit, we will travel just 10 minutes to the renowned Ancient City of Ephesus, which is recognized as one of the largest archaeological digs in the world. During our exploration, we will see the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the Baths of Scholastica, and the Temples of Hadrian and Domitian. A highlight of the tour is the Library of Celsius, one of the most impressive structures of ancient times. We will also explore The Grand Theatre, where St. Paul once delivered his sermons. This monumental theatre could hold up to 24,000 spectators and was the largest of its kind in the ancient world. Our guided walk through Ephesus will take approximately 2 hours, after which we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch.
Once we've finished our meal, we will visit the remains of the magnificent Temple of Artemis, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Our last stop is the charming Sirince Village, located just 15 minutes away. This quaint town remained a Greek Orthodox settlement until the 1924 population exchange between Greece and the Republic of Turkey, when Greek residents were relocated and replaced by Turkish citizens from Greece. The tour concludes around 4:30 PM, and we will return you comfortably to your hotel.
