Small Group Tours (max. 12 people)
The tours we offer are designed for those who prefer a relaxed pace, comprehensive insights from knowledgeable guides, local meals in small boutique restaurants (we avoid large bus group venues with open-buffet lunches), and a small group experience. If you prefer tours that visit many sites quickly, these may not align with your expectations.
The ancient city of Ephesus, situated near the Aegean coast, was once among the largest Greek settlements in Anatolia and famously housed the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Today, the ruins of Ephesus draw countless visitors and hold great importance in Christian history, being linked to prominent biblical figures such as St. Paul, St. John the Evangelist, and the Virgin Mary. Additionally, Ephesus is recognized as one of the seven churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation. During the Roman era, the city boasted a population exceeding 250,000 in the 1st century BC, ranking it among the most populous cities of the Mediterranean region.
Throughout its history, Ephesus has served as a prominent "hub." It was once a major commercial center in the ancient world, later became a spiritual stronghold during early Christianity, and now stands as a remarkable tourist destination that welcomes visitors from around the globe.
Once your cruise ship docks at Kusadasi Port, our professional guide and driver will be waiting to greet you with a personalized sign displaying your name. From there, we will head directly to The House of the Virgin Mary. This sacred site was brought to light by Sister Anne Catherine Emmerich, a German nun, in 1812. Through her vivid spiritual visions, Sister Emmerich described a journey in her sleep where she saw St. John accompanying the Virgin Mary from Jerusalem to Ephesus. She recounted a rectangular stone house, said to have been constructed by St. John for the Virgin Mary.
After exploring this revered destination, we will take a short 10-minute drive to the Ancient City of Ephesus, one of the largest archaeological sites in the world. Highlights of our visit include the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the Baths of Scholastica, and the temples of Hadrian and Domitian. We’ll also explore the breathtaking Library of Celsius, followed by a visit to The Grand Theatre, where St. Paul once delivered his sermons. This massive amphitheater, the largest of its time, could accommodate up to 24,000 spectators. The guided walking tour of Ephesus will last approximately 2 hours, after which we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch.
After enjoying lunch, our next destination will be the remarkable Temple of Artemis, known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Following this visit, we’ll take a short 15-minute drive to the charming village of Şirince. This picturesque village remained a Greek Orthodox settlement until the population exchange agreement between the Republic of Turkey and Greece in 1924. As part of this agreement, Greeks residing in Turkey were relocated to Greece, while Turks living in Greece were brought to Turkey. The tour will conclude at approximately 4:30 PM, after which we will return you comfortably to the port.
