Demre, Myra, Kekova and St. Nicholas Church Tour

We will pick you up early from your hotel in Antalya around 07:00am to start our journey. A scenic drive of just over two hours will take us to Demre, offering views of the stunning Turquoise Coast on one side and the majestic Taurus Mountains on the other. Upon arrival, our first stop will be the Ancient City of Myra.

In ancient times, Myra was a prominent city of the Lycian League, and today it is well-known for its Roman-era theatre and impressive rock-cut tombs. Myra is closely linked to Saint Nicholas (Santa Claus), who served as bishop here. After exploring this historic site, we will visit the Church of Saint Nicholas, an important religious structure. Saint Nicholas, born in Patara in the late third century AD, became bishop of Myra and was later canonized. This church was added to the UNESCO Tentative List in 2000 for its cultural significance.

Following our visit, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before setting off on a boat cruise to Kekova Island. Here we’ll discover the sunken ruins of the ancient city Simena. Atop the hillside stands a remarkably preserved castle, partially built on old Lycian foundations. Inside the fortress, you'll find Lycia’s smallest theatre. The eastern edge of the village features a necropolis with sarcophagi facing the sea, including some partially submerged in the water—a truly breathtaking sight. There will also be a short swimming break, so don’t forget your swimwear. Kekova has also been part of the UNESCO Tentative List since 2000.

After a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean Sea, we’ll begin the return drive to your hotel in Antalya. The tour will conclude around 18:00. Please keep in mind that this excursion runs from May 15 to December 15.
