The North Cappadocia Red Tour, which includes lunch, begins at 09:30 from your hotel in Goreme, or slightly earlier if you're staying in a different town (we'll inform you of the exact pick-up time at the time of your booking). The first destination is the Uçhisar Castle Viewpoint, the tallest rock structure in Cappadocia. Here, your guide will explain the natural geological events that shaped this extraordinary landscape.
At the Zelve Open Air Museum, your guide will highlight the importance of early Christian communities and monastic traditions in the region. While Zelve may not contain as many detailed frescoes as other sites, it offers a vast and intricate network of carved-out chambers and tunnels. This valley also features an abundance of the region's iconic pointed fairy chimneys, some of which rise nearly 40 feet above the ground. The journey continues to Çavuşin village, where you'll explore the historic Greek houses that were left behind after the 1924 population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Midway through the tour, you’ll enjoy a tasty lunch in Avanos, featuring an array of traditional Cappadocian dishes such as mezes, salads, meat and vegetarian options, and desserts.
After lunch, you’ll head to a traditional family-owned pottery studio nestled inside an underground cave. This workshop continues the centuries-old craft of pottery making using clay sourced from the Kızılırmak (Red) River, a tradition that dates back to the Hittite civilization before 1800 BC. Watch a skilled artisan shape the clay, while painters and glazers decorate each piece with fine, detailed designs. You’ll also have the opportunity to sit at the potter’s wheel and create your very own handmade ceramic. The next stop is Paşabağ, also known as Monks Valley, famous for its Chapel of Saint Simeon and its unique fairy chimneys with multiple caps resembling giant mushrooms. The tour wraps up with a visit to Devrent Valley, known for its surreal rock formations that mimic various shapes, including the iconic camel-shaped rock. The tour concludes with your return to the hotel at around 04:00 PM.
The cost of this tour is 80 Euro per person. For more details, feel free to email us or reach out directly through Whatsapp message — we’ll respond promptly.
