Itinerary Details

Day 1 (Drive from Cappadocia to Gaziantep, lunch & dinner included)

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cappadocia at 07:00 am and drive approximately 3.5 hours to Kahramanmaraş, where you will have the chance to taste the world-renowned goat milk ice cream. Afterward, we will continue for about 1 hour to Gaziantep to visit the Zeugma Mosaic Museum. This museum houses Turkey’s most exquisite and well-preserved mosaics, featuring stunning pieces from the ancient city of Zeugma. Zeugma has been on the UNESCO Tentative List since 2021. These mosaics, dating back 2,000 years, are unique for their design, colors, and craftsmanship. In addition to the 1,450 m² of mosaics, the museum also displays 140 m² of frescoes, four Roman fountains, 20 columns, four limestone sculptures, a bronze statue of Mars, grave steles, and sarcophagi. Later, we will enjoy lunch at the famous 'Kebapçı Halil Usta Restaurant.' Gaziantep is well-known for its rich culinary heritage, especially its kebabs, and this restaurant has been repeatedly recognized as the best kebab restaurant in Turkey.

Following lunch, we will embark on a two-hour drive to Harran, an ancient city reputed to be a former residence of Prophet Abraham. Despite its arid and barren surroundings, Harran has flourished for 5,000 years as an important trade center between Anatolia and Mesopotamia, maintaining a vibrant and enduring culture. The city is famous for its unique adobe beehive houses, its historic castle, and the ruins of an 8th-century university building. Harran has been listed on the UNESCO Tentative List since 2000. After exploring Harran, we will drive approximately 45 minutes to the center of Sanliurfa and check into our hotel. Following some rest, we will head out for dinner at one of Sanliurfa’s finest restaurants, Culcuoglu Restaurant. This establishment is renowned for its kebabs and baklava. After dinner, we will return to the hotel for overnight accommodation in Sanliurfa.

Day 2 ( Visit Gobeklitepe & Karahantepe, sunset in Mt. Nemrut, breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will take a leisurely walk around the center of Sanliurfa. This city is steeped in history, reputed to have been home to the Old Testament prophets Jethro, Job, Elijah, and Abraham. Moreover, the area served as a temporary residence for Prophet Moses, who spent seven years working as a shepherd before his return to Egypt. Due to these profound historical ties, Sanliurfa is often referred to as the 'City of Prophets.' During our visit, we will explore the Pool of Prophet Abraham, where tradition holds that Abraham, after refusing to worship Nimrod’s gods, was cast into a fire meant to kill him. Miraculously, as a devoted follower of God, Abraham was unharmed, and the fire transformed into water, while the burning wood turned into the carp fish that now live in the pool. Our visit will also include a peaceful stroll through the streets, which reflect a unique blend of varied cultures and ethnic communities.

We will then drive approximately 30 minutes to visit one of Turkey’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Göbekli Tepe. Göbekli Tepe represents the oldest known monumental human-made architectural site discovered to date. Scientific research confirms that the site is the world’s oldest temple, dating back some 11,500 years. The location is marked by numerous limestone pillars, many carved with stylized T-shaped symbols, which archaeoastronomers believe also had an astronomical alignment function.

Our next adventure will take us to the recently uncovered and still partially unexplored site of Karahantepe. This important Pre-Pottery Neolithic location is situated in the Taş Tepeler area of Southeastern Turkey, within Şanlıurfa province. The name "Taş Tepeler" means "stone hills," perfectly describing a region rich in archaeological sites, featuring T-shaped anthropomorphic pillars similar to those at Göbekli Tepe. What makes Karahantepe particularly fascinating is its link to the same cultural tradition as Göbekli Tepe, yet it displays unique characteristics. Unlike the more polished, realistic, and finely detailed art of Göbekli Tepe, the figures at Karahantepe carry a more energetic vibe with a less detailed, more expressive style, while still maintaining their ritual importance.

Following this extraordinary exploration, we will drive for about one hour to reach Cevahirhan Restaurant. This historical caravanserai, dating back 700 years, has been meticulously restored and is now celebrated as the premier dining spot in Şanlıurfa. After savoring a delicious lunch here, we will continue our trip with a 1.5-hour drive to our hotel in Adıyaman. Upon arrival, you will have time to relax for about an hour before we set out on a 2-hour journey to the summit of Mount Nemrut. Mount Nemrut, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, awaits us. We will hike approximately 20 minutes from the national park entrance to reach the summit. There, we will witness one of the world’s most stunning sunsets, surrounded by magnificent statues of gods and kings. After this unforgettable experience, we will descend to Kahta for dinner at a charming local restaurant. Finally, a roughly 45-minute drive will bring us back to our hotel for an overnight stay in Adıyaman.

Day 3 (Drive back to Cappadocia or Flight back to Istanbul, breakfast included)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will drive you back to Cappadocia, including a lunch break along the route. If you prefer, we can also drop you off at Adiyaman Airport for your flight to Istanbul Airport.
