Mr. Cabir, the monastery’s caretaker, is a warm and well-informed guide fluent in multiple languages, eager to lead visitors on a tour. He has cared for the monastery for many years and takes great pleasure in sharing his extensive knowledge.

The oldest churches within Keslik Monastery are thought to have been carved under the orders of a ruler from the sixth or seventh century, although their precise dates remain uncertain. Among the site’s most notable structures is the Church of Archangels, featuring striking frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Jesus, including rare illustrations of Mary’s childhood and her presentation at the temple.

Another significant church is Stefanos Church, also referred to as the Crusader Church due to a cross found there. This church was constructed with a flat roof, a design choice influenced by the challenges of stone carving.

In summary, the Keslik Monastery offers a captivating experience with its rich architectural heritage and remarkable paintings, providing valuable insight into the history and culture of Cappadocia.
