Sahinderesi Canyon

The town of Altinoluk, located close to the Sahinderesi Canyon, boasts some of the purest and most oxygen-rich air globally. This 27-kilometer-long canyon, with cliffs reaching up to 600 meters in height, creates a natural air circulation system that carries mountain pine-scented fresh air down to the plains, while sea air with an iodine fragrance rises to the higher elevations.

The canyon hosts a wide variety of herbs and plants known for their calming effects and ability to relieve muscle aches. However, entry to the canyon requires authorization from the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.

While traveling along the canyon route, make sure to visit Derecati, a tranquil small lake perfect for a refreshing swim. This serene spot is filled with the soothing sounds of flowing water and birdsong. The canyon also features numerous springs, such as the aromatic Derecati Spring, which emerges from moss-covered rocks, and the nearby Naneli Spring, flowing amidst fragrant mint plants.

Beyond its rich vegetation and cool water sources, Sahinderesi Canyon is home to several remarkable geological formations. These include Gucuk Burun, Aglayan Cam, Kestane Stream, Yoruk Spring, Selvili Mezarlik, Ayi Kapilar, and Damla. Discovering these natural marvels offers an unforgettable adventure for all nature enthusiasts.
