Karaca Arboretum (Botanical Garden) Karaca Arboretum is a magnificent botanical garden situated just 5 kilometers away from the center of Yalova, along the Terman road. Founded by Hayrettin Karaca in 1980, this arboretum spans 13.5 hectares and boasts an impressive collection of approximately 7000 diverse plant species and varieties. As a privately owned arboretum in Turkey, Karaca Arboretum presents a remarkable collection of plant species and varieties from across the globe, including Acer, Plums, Magnolias, Oaks, and Pines. Visitors are welcome to explore the arboretum on Sundays from 1 to 6 pm when it is open to the public. Additionally, groups and schools have the opportunity to visit on other days by making a prior reservation. Guided tours last about 1.5 hours, and donations to the TEMA Foundation are gratefully accepted at the conclusion of the tour, with a receipt provided. Each year, Karaca Arboretum attracts no fewer than 15,000 visitors from both within the country and abroad. Beyond its extensive plant collection, Karaca Arboretum also supplies plant specimens to various arboretums and botanical gardens throughout Turkey. Moreover, it actively engages in international seed exchange programs with arboretums and botanical gardens worldwide, enriching its collection and developing new garden areas within its grounds. Honored for its exceptional beauty and contributions to dendrology, Karaca Arboretum received an award from the International Dendrology Society in 2004. The award was presented to Mr. Hayrettin Karaca in a ceremony held at the arboretum by the Director of the International Dendrology Society.
