The Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, and Suleymaniye Mosque Tour will commence at 10:00 AM, where you will meet your expert guide at Sultanahmet Square. Following a brief overview of the day's schedule, you will embark on a journey through the rich and magnificent history of the Ottoman Empire.
Your first destination will be the Topkapı Palace, which served as the splendid residence of the Ottoman sultans for almost 400 years. Constructed in the 15th century by Sultan Mehmed II, this expansive palace complex features stunning courtyards, grand imperial chambers, and invaluable treasures. You will visit notable sites such as the Imperial Council Chamber, the Treasury—home to the famous Topkapı Dagger and the Spoonmaker’s Diamond—and the Holy Relics Chamber. The tour also includes an exclusive visit to the Harem, the private quarters where the sultan’s family resided. As you stroll through its ornately decorated rooms, your guide will narrate captivating tales about the sultans, their queens, and concubines who once lived within these walls.
After exploring Topkapı Palace, your next destination will be the iconic Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. Dating back to the 15th century, this bustling marketplace boasts over 4,000 shops, selling a wide array of goods such as handwoven carpets, intricate jewelry, traditional ceramics, and antique items. As you wander through its maze-like passages, your guide will share insights into the rich heritage of Turkish commerce and artisanship. You’ll also enjoy some free time to browse, bargain with shopkeepers, and purchase one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
Around 1:30 PM, you will pause for a lunch break at a local eatery known for its authentic Turkish flavors. This is a great opportunity to sample popular dishes like grilled kebabs, assorted mezes, and classic Turkish desserts such as baklava. Please note that lunch is not included in the tour price.
After lunch, the tour continues with a visit to the majestic Süleymaniye Mosque, a crowning achievement of the legendary Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. Completed in 1557 under the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, the mosque stands as a symbol of Ottoman elegance, simplicity, and architectural brilliance. Inside, you'll be captivated by its towering domes, detailed tilework, and beautiful Islamic calligraphy. The complex also includes the tombs of Sultan Suleiman and his beloved wife Hürrem Sultan (Roxelana), adding an emotional layer to your experience. From the courtyard, take in the spectacular views of the Golden Horn and Bosphorus.
The tour will wrap up at approximately 4:00 PM. Your guide will then either escort you back to your hotel or offer helpful suggestions for continuing your exploration of Istanbul’s enchanting Old City.
