Konya Hemp Halva Product Description and Distinguishing Features: Konya Hemp Helva is a traditional dessert made by roasting hemp seeds along with walnuts, almonds, and pistachios, then roasting the mixture once more before drizzling hot grape molasses over it. This blend is then allowed to cool on a tray dusted with chickpea flour. Originating from the Seljuk era, Konya Hemp Helva was known as a beloved wintertime delicacy and an essential part of social gatherings, often called an "entertainment treat." Today, it continues to hold an important place in Konya’s culinary tradition and remains closely linked to the region’s geographical identity. Production Method: Ingredients: 200 ml grape molasses, 250 g hemp seeds, 150 g pistachios, 150 g almonds, 150 g walnuts, 150 g sesame seeds, 50 g chickpea flour The grape molasses is gently simmered over low heat. Hemp seeds are toasted in a pan until their fragrance intensifies. Coarsely chopped walnuts, almonds, and pistachios are then mixed into the roasted hemp seeds and toasted together. Once combined, the hot molasses is poured over the nut and seed mixture. A layer of chickpea flour is spread across the bottom of a tray before pouring the molasses blend onto it. Konya Hemp Helva is best enjoyed at room temperature and should be kept in a dry, shaded area. It typically remains fresh for about one month.
