Dim Cave

Dim Cave

Dim Cave, located on the slopes of Cebel-i Reis Mountain, stands as the second largest cave in Turkey. It sits at an altitude of 242 meters above sea level, to the northeast of Alanya. This naturally formed, karstic cave has been accessible to the public since 1998.

Dim Cave

The formation of Dim Cave is the result of rain and snow waters rich in carbonic acid, which run through the cracks and joints of limestone rocks, combined with tectonic shifts. Positioned in the Middle Taurus Mountains on Cebel Reis, a significant fault line running from NW to SE, the cave is made up of alternating limestones and shales.

Dim Cave spans approximately 10-15 meters in both width and height, stretching about 360 meters in length. It is adorned with a variety of dripstone formations, including stalagmites and stalactites, which connect throughout the cave. At the far end, there is a small lake, measuring 17 meters deep and covering 200 square meters in area, though it only appears when obstructing shale layers do not rise from the cave floor.

After exploring the cave, visitors can descend the slope towards the Dim Creek Valley (Dim Çayı Vadisi) below. Alternatively, a scenic footpath leads up to the cave's entrance, starting from the picnic areas near Dim Creek.
