Damlatas Cave

Damlatas Cave

Around seventy years ago, during stone quarrying for the construction of a harbor, Damlatash Cave was uncovered. It is located in the heart of Alanya, on the western side of the ancient peninsula.

As you enter the cave, a 50-meter-long corridor guides you to a 15-meter-tall cylindrical chamber, eventually opening up to the walkable section of the cave. Formed from semi-crystalline limestone, the cave features impressive stalactites and stalagmites that began forming over 15 thousand years ago. The name "Damlataş" translates to "Dripping Stone" in English.

Damlataş Cave is famous not only for its stunning natural formations but also for its therapeutic benefits. Individuals with asthma are sometimes treated inside the cave, following a medical plan overseen by a qualified doctor.

The cave maintains a steady air temperature of 22 degrees Celsius all year round, accompanied by a high humidity level of 95% and a consistent atmospheric pressure of 760 mm. The cave's atmosphere includes 71% nitrogen, 20.5% oxygen, 2.5 per ten thousand carbon dioxide, along with traces of radioactivity and ions.
